The 1973 Vespa 50 R

This is the Vespa 50 from 1973 that my oldest son got from on his 15th birthday. Two years after that it went to his cousin when she became 15. Now it's back with me. My middle son will try it this summer at our summer house. The regulations here in Sweden has become harsher. Now a 500 euro license is required even for these old mopeds, maximum speed 30 kph (this one reaches 39, ti-hi).

Vespa 50R 1973 sold!

Remember my blogpost about my brother's daughter who fell in love with our Vespa 50 from 1973?
After she tried it she nagged my brother to ask my son to sell it.
This year she became 15 years old and the urging got stronger.
After a long time my 18-year old decided to sell it. I agreed, under conditions. When she gets tired of it, they have to sell it back to me!
In April the Vespa travelled 600 km's up north, and in May the girl, Alva, managed to get her moped-license (you have to have that now, a new law). All her girlfriends have brand new and modern 50 cc scooters. That was never an alternative for her. A modette to be?

Such a happy and proud face!

The last ride on the Vespa U

We're entering the big darkness here in Sweden. The big cold as well. Not much hope for decent temperatures for about six months. Maybe next April will be warm and sunny, then we hibernate for only five months...
Today I took a last ride on my Lambretta 150D and my Vespa 125 U for this year. Emptying the fuel tanks while enjoying myself. My son's Vespa 50R was also put away for the winter. The 160 GS, not driven this year, is at the far right below.

Even tried on my "new" pillion seat, the one bought at the Imola fair. Not sure if it turned out well...colourwise I mean.
