Vespa SS180 with finnish!

This is my 1967 Vespa SS 180, bought in april 2013. After the purchase I mounted the tank and repaired the lamp housing with metallic glue, rewired it and changed the saddle. It started nicely but after a couple of starts the piston rings gave up. I ordered new ones and a Ken Cobbing-replica exhaust from SIP.
A lot of other things happened, a Cosa, a VGL, and so on...
Now I'm giving it some tender loving care again. The piston rings are mounted and the compression is healthy again. I have also replaced the kick lever since the splines were worn.
Looking forward to try it in better weather conditions!
I will keep it as is. It has a lot of cool period stickers. It was sold new in Helsinki, the capital of Finland and later it went to Åland, the archipelago between Sweden and Finland.
One of the cool stickers are from 1973 Pori Jazz Festival, where Keith Jarrett, Jukka Tolonen, Nanni Porres, Tasavallan Presidenti and more were among the performing artists that year.

Great scooter rideout!

Some friends on Vespas and one Lambretta during The Visby Vespa Club summer rideout on the island of Gotland. It's my red Cosa far away in the picture. Later there was a gymkhana and it ended with a dinner.

At the local "brewery"...

Young son on Vespa PK 50 XL

Here's my middle son, 16 years, riding a scooter for the first time. Almost legally...
Earlier you only had to be 15 years old to drive 50 cc moped in Sweden. Nowadays it's compulsory to have a license that will set you back about €500!
These pictures are taken near our country house, practically no traffic at all.
Doesn't he look happy on the Vespa PK 50 XL?

One more for the road?

Okay, it's been a while. Maybe this is a new beginning or not...
This is my recently bought Vespa V50N, according to Scooterhelp a 1967 model. Everything is there except the the front light housing and handlebar cover. It's body is actually straight and nice, the rust (ruggine) is only on the surface.

The 1973 Vespa 50 R

This is the Vespa 50 from 1973 that my oldest son got from on his 15th birthday. Two years after that it went to his cousin when she became 15. Now it's back with me. My middle son will try it this summer at our summer house. The regulations here in Sweden has become harsher. Now a 500 euro license is required even for these old mopeds, maximum speed 30 kph (this one reaches 39, ti-hi).

The old Vespa VGLA

It's a 1957 Vespa Touring, 10-inch wheels and 5,8 hp. For export to Germany and Sweden. Maybe France?

The 1956 Vespa GS is alive!

The red 1956 Vespa GS 150 (VS2) is no longer - red. The original silvermetallic paint is back, sort of. Unfortunately so is the filler applied by the former owner who choose to paint it red. Call me conservative if you like!
Unfortunately some filler on the side cowls and front shield spoils the work. Otherwise the original paint looks okay if you go for that worn and original look.
Maybe it will become some sort of "rat scoot"? I think red wheels looks pretty cool.

A red Vespa Gran Sport? No, thanks...

The paint stripper is beginning to work on the red, and orange...

Goey! Messy!

Half there?

Filler and no paint at all...

Was this really such a good idea?

Hey, the wheels are red! Whaddaya mean by that?

Valborundan 2014 - scooterish...

Me with mates Anders and Ola, all on Vespa GS 160.

The Valborundan 2014 was held on the 29th of May, near the town of Gävle, 170 km's north of Stockholm. 150 participants on motorcycles and scooters. About 20 of them were scooters, mostly Vespas but only one Lambretta, a 150 LD, one Peugeot S55 and a couple of Zündapp Bellas, one with sidecar.
I wasn't participating, just ridning along and taking pictures in the nice weather. I was on my Vespa GS 160 from 1963 and met friends Anders Lagerquist, also on a series 1, and Ola Gustafsson on a series 2. Fellow scooterist Mikael Dunker took the picture of us. Anders is a legend, he was in several international competitions during the 60's. Among them "Tre Mare" in Italy. Yes, a nice rally!

Nice Lambretta exhibition

Lambretta Club Stockholm held a small Lambretta exhibition at the museum MC Collection just outside Stockholm. A Lambretta m (A) was the oldest, a latter day import from Austria. There were also a Series 1 TV 175, a LD 150, a J125 and some Serie III-customs and a DL 150. Plus a chopper known from a record cover by the Swedish band Lolita Pop.

Vespa GS 1956 discovered

This 1956 Vespa GS 150 (VS2T) was recently discovered here in Sweden. A youngster, sort of, bought it some ten years ago from an older gentleman. The latter is responsible of the badly applied red paint
The new owner will carefully try to the remove the red paint to save the original silver-grey all 150 GS's were painted in.
All the bits are there, except the speedo.

Petrol tank saves Lambretta?

A dear colleague and scooterist at work had a Lambretta petrol tank for sale. Chromed! I bought it off him, just in case. Maybe for my TV175 series III or for my yard wreck series I. The S1-tank are in a bad state as you can see. So is the engine, but I have a good S2-engine. Looks like I have the parts for a custom!

Lambretta & Vespa on vinyl

Vinyl records are the best! I just found these in a record shop in Stockholm. I was looking for the Kim Carnes record as I knew it existed, famous for the cover with a Vespa, not for the music. A bit strange to an European though, is it an American VBB? The tail light is unfamiliar to me.
The Nils Tibor record called "Hammond Hit Parade Vol. 6" was a surprise to me, never heard of it. Lovely girl in futuristic shades on a Lambretta 125 Starstream! The record is in excellent shape, guess that it never have been played. That tells something, or...
And, "Vol. 6", does that mean that there is five more records with beautiful girls on classic scooters to be collected?

Scooter premiere 2014, Stockholm

The scooter premiere was held on Saturday 26 of April in Stockholm. 85 scooters, mostly Vespas and Lambrettas (and one Cosa!), participated in the lovely weather. Organized beautifully by Svenska Scooterklubben, Lambretta Club Stockholm, Vespa Club Stockholm and Stockholm Mods Scooter Club.
